The Problem - Maintaining a large WordPress site with a custom theme

The people at Coffee Bros needed to make enhancements to their online store, along with cleaning up old code.

They also wanted someone to work with closely over a long period, to tackle many aspects of their multiple websites.

• Their website wasn't maintained closely for some time, and they needed it to be tuned up
• Their site would occasionally have problems related to DNS
• The shopping experience of their customers had a few nicks
• They needed new features to promote their NFTs
• They had some questions about how to better use WordPress

The Solution - Improve the shopping experience on a custom Bootstrap WordPress website

We forged a long-term relationship. I provided them with a close and personal service over a year.

• We improved their site's security, reduced bugs, and increased speed
• We redesigned and improved the checkout process, making it more likely for customers to complete their order
• We extended their WordPress to allow for simplified options over some of their content, saving time on everyday tasks
• Using data for guidance, we produced new elements throughout their site to improve user experience

Understrap WordPress Theme

The site was built using Understrap, a developer boilerplate for WordPress that has Bootstrap 4 installed. It is a fork of Underscores, also known as _S. This also meant I needed to use Sass, JS and PHP for most of the work.

Customizing WordPress

Their site used Advanced Custom Fields throughout, to make content management easy, along with custom properties for their products. We got to build on top of it and add new features, for example, adding a banner text to the top of the site, with an easy way to change it.

Improving shopping experience

We analyzed data and brainstormed together, to figure out meaningful ways to improve the experience of their visitors. This included ways to introduce new people to some of their products.

Elementor

With Elementor we worked together to produce new landing pages and a new website for their NFT projects.
